Waste Manager

Job Description

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve waste management strategies that align with the organization’s sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
• Create long-term plans to minimize waste generation, maximize recycling, and achieve waste diversion from landfills.
• Identify and implement strategies for reducing waste across all company operations, including material sourcing, product design, packaging, and operations.
• Establish clear guidelines for waste reduction in all departments and provide support for implementing those guidelines.
• Promote and expand company-wide recycling initiatives, ensuring proper waste segregation and recycling across all departments.
• Partner with waste contractors and local recycling facilities to optimize recycling processes and ensure the proper disposal of materials.
• Ensure all waste management activities comply with local, regional, and international environmental regulations, including those related to hazardous waste and recycling.
• Regularly audit waste management systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and compliance gaps

Qualifications

• Track and monitor all waste streams to identify patterns and opportunities for waste reduction and cost savings.
• Prepare regular reports detailing waste generation, recycling rates, and environment.
• Work closely with internal teams, including sustainability, operations, and facilities management, to ensure waste management strategies are integrated into daily operations.
• Educate and train employees in the best practices for waste management and sustainability initiatives.
• Developing and implementing waste disposal procedures under set government rules
• Analyzing statistics concerning local waste levels, recycling and making appropriate recommendations
• Monitoring and handling issues with waste disposal and recycling services
• Meeting with councilors, contractors, residents and other stakeholders to identify waste management issues, get suggestions and provide and implement lasting solutions
• Managing contracts with other waste management companies.
• Prepare reports on waste management activities.
• Conduct waste audits to identify improvement areas.
